Happy Birthday Miss Kissabull

On Monday our beloved Miss Kissabull turned 2! A few of you might be going what the heck, I thought her name was Izzy? Her actual registered name is Miss Kissabull but we like to call her Izzy for short. Hazel is able to say Ish now which is really cute! Of course we had to celebrate our girl in style, so my little helper and I made Izzy a Peanut Butter Carrot cake with Peanut Butter Yogurt Icing and boy did she love it! I was a bit leery about letting Hazel help me in the kitchen but after seeing Tamara from Discovering Parenthood let her daughter Everly help her I figured this would be the perfect way to start. Here is our recipe:

Peanut Butter Carrot Dog Cake with Peanut Butter Yogurt Icing

Cake:

1/4 cup Peanut Butter

1/4 cup Vegetable Oil

1             Egg

1 tsp      Vanilla Extract

1 cup     Flour

1 tsp      Baking Soda

1 cup     Shredded Carrots (I used julienned carrots as I had some in the fridge, it just made it a bit chunkier)

Icing:

2 Tbsp   Greek Yogurt

1 Tbsp    Peanut Butter

Cake Directions:

Mix all ingredients together and spoon into your cake pan, I used 4 little tart pans as pictured above. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 40 minutes or until cake is golden brown. Ours was nice and crumbly, very similar in texture to our doggie treats.

Icing Directions:

Mix together yogurt and peanut butter until it resembles an icing texture. Spread over your cake as you would a “real” cake. Add more yogurt to thin the icing or more peanut butter for a butter cream consistency. As it is yogurt, keep in the fridge until it is to be enjoyed 🙂

If your dog is anything like Izzy, this cake won’t stand a chance! This girl would have devoured the whole thing in one sitting if I had let her 🙂
