An afternoon at Queens Park

Now that it is officially summer it seems as though a lot of people are winding down their work weeks and gearing up for summer vacation. Over here we are coming to the end of one of the best and busiest years of our lives so far. Our little monkey turns one this Sunday, I cannot believe how fast this year has gone by. Evan has the next two weeks off so we are trying to cram in as much family time as possible as I get ready to return to work . Hazel is at that age now were she is aware of her surroundings and loves to be around people so we are looking for lots of local activities we can a take her to. So if you know of any feel free to send them our way!

I have seen a lot of people posting pictures of afternoons at Queens in New Westminster lately so we thought we would go check it out. Evan grew up in that area so he knew where to go and what we would see, I on the other hand don’t believe I have ever been there. As we were on our way it started to sprinkle, we had thrown some sweaters in the car in case it cooled down while we were out, if it really started to rain an afternoon at Ikea was our back up plan ;). Luckily the rain held off while we were there. We checked out the petting zoo first, where there was lots for Hazel to see. She was fascinated by all the animals wandering around and reached out to pet a few. We put her down on the bench beside a few goats, whom she stared at with amazement. She loved it, I can’t wait to take her back when she is fully walking on her own.

After we checked out the petting zoo we headed over to the playground. If it had been nicer out we would have checked out the spray park too. I think we are going to plan to come back again during the summer and spend the day at the park so she can play in the spray park 🙂

As we headed out we took a quick walk through the rose garden. I couldn’t get over all the pretty roses in bloom, and it smelt amazing! Of course instead of smelling the roses Hazel tried to destroy a few!

Tomorrow I’m going to share some more roses with you, check back to see some pictures from my sisters wedding shower that I threw for her on Sunday.
