Bringing Out Our Inner Smurf

Last week Hazel and I had the opportunity to join some fellow moms, bloggers and friends at 4 Cats Shaughnessy for an evening of crafting. The ladies of 4 Cats, Lisa and Marnie, were so kind to donate an evening of their time to us. They filled our bellies with yummy snacks and led us through a craft that combined both clay and painting.

With Hazel only being 17 months it was a bit tricky to do the crafts. I put together our penguins on the table behind us as she just wanted to destroy the clay every time she saw it. Marnie was great and gave us some extra clay for her to play with while I created.

Painting was a whole other story. I didn’t even see Marnie give us our tray of paint, needless to say Hazel had her eyes on the prize. Within seconds our canvas, the table and Hazel were all blue! Girl was in her element swirling her paint around with her fingers, creating her master piece. We threw the design and the paint brush out the window and just rolled with it. We might have sampled the paint too 😉

4 Cats Shaughnessy offers a variety of classes for everyone in your family. The classes for children typically start at age 2 (4Cats Kittens) but if you do a family workshop children of all ages are welcome. The ladies were so great with the kids, making the whole experience lots of fun. There really is no such thing as a mess when you’re having fun! I can’t wait until Hazel is two and I can sign her up in some of the Kitten classes, until then we will be sticking to the Family Workshops.

If you live in the Tricities / lower mainland I highly recommend visiting the ladies at 4 Cats Shaughnessy for a class. They are located right in downtown Port Coquitlam, right on Shaughnessy. For all of my friends they are located in the building Evan and I used to live in, how funny is that?! To check out their classes and upcoming schedule please visit their website:

Thank you again ladies for a fun night and a huge thank you to Tairalyn of Little Miss Mama for organizing the event. I can’t wait to do it again!
