Chocolate Cheerio Cereal Treat Bars {Gluten-Free}

Chocolate Cheerio Cereal Treat Bars, I dare you to say that one ten times fast! I felt like my tongue was in knots just trying to type that let alone say it!

We are gearing up for a fun little playdate this morning and Hazel and I wanted to make sure that we had some fun little treats to enjoy during it. Our friend that will be joining us is unable to consume gluten so we wanted to make sure we had a treat that both girls could enjoy without worry. (More time for us mamas to sip coffee and chat!)

While neither of my kids have food intolerances or allergies, I couldn’t imagine having to explain to a three year old that they can’t eat something because their body can’t handle it. It’s a concept that they might grasp a little bit but I don’t think at this age they can fully wrap their head around it. Not only that but it would break my heart if others were digging in and all they could do is watch from the side. I know it’s equally as stressful on the moms too, as they struggle with not only finding healthy options that their whole family can enjoy but making sure they will be ok when out and about.

As the kids get older and you start mixing in birthday parties, more playdates and eventually school, it gets harder and harder to control. Thankfully Cheerios has introduced their entire line, all five of your favourite flavours, Original, Chocolate, Honeynut, Multigrain and Apple Cinnamon, as a gluten-free option. They have gone to great lengths to ensure that the oats they are using aren’t mixed with grains such as barley, wheat and rye which all contain gluten. While Cheerios have always been made with oats the other grains can be mixed in during harvest or transport as farmers typically grow more than one grain. With a little extra TLC, they’ve separated unwanted grains from the oats, all while ensuring the oats meet the regularity standard for Gluten-Free. The best part about the whole thing? They have the same great taste as your regular Cheerios! I kid you not, I am no gluten-free connoisseur but I cannot tell a difference and neither can my kids, the biggest critics in the house!

So Hazel and I set out to make a fun twist on our favourite classic cereal treat using our Gluten-Free Chocolate Cheerios and as you can imagine they turned out delicious!

{Disclosure, this is part of a sponsored campaign however, it would be a lie if we said we didn’t love Cheerios 😉 )
