Daycare update

It’s been a few weeks since I first posted about daycare and how the transition wasn’t going as smoothly as I  thought it would. If you missed that post you can find it here. I thought I would take sometime to update you guys on how its going and if things had gotten better. So I won’t leave you hanging, it’s been going great! Hazel has been attending full time for just over four weeks now and is loving every second of it.

Every morning when I say let’s go to daycare she runs to the stairs and is practically climbing over the gate to get downstairs.  When we arrive at the center each morning she walks in like she owns the place and likes to point out her shoes to everyone, especially her rubber boots. Some days I have hard time trying to take her jacket off of her as shes ready to go play the moment we arrive. Most mornings she doesn’t even notice me leaving, tends to forget about me the moment she walks into her classroom, which is great!

While she refuses to take a bottle from the staff, leaving us with just an am and pm bottle at home, she loves everything they provide her to eat. The staff say meal and snack times are her favorite time of day, haha. In fact I think the cook is her favorite person there, and she loves to stop by the kitchen to say hi on our way in, in the mornings.

The staff as a whole are great, everyone seems to be settling into their positions well and they seem a bit more relaxed now. They all love Hazel, including the staff from different rooms.  We get told everyday by different staff members about how much they love her and her little smile. She has got such a fun personality and the aura she generates is such a happy one, you can’t possibly be anything but happy when you’re around her.

I am hoping we are able to bump her up into the next room fairly soon, as I think she needs the challenge. It doesn’t appear that any of the kids in her current room are walking yet, so she has started crawling a bit at home. I think if she is around children that are a bit more advanced than herself, it will push her to learn. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want her growing up to fast, I just want to help her develop instead of regress.

In the mean time we are enjoying the little pieces of artwork that we are receiving and can’t wait to see what else comes our way. I will keep you updated as we continue down this road of full time daycare.
