The other day I had a little monkey tell me she wanted to be the Paper Bag Princess. I had just been to Ikea the day before and had some packaging paper sitting on the table from the item we had purchased, so we set out to make her the Paper Bag Princess.
I mean seriously, how cute is she? This would totally be her Halloween costume this year but it’s just too cold at night and it wouldn’t be as cute with layers beneath. Also the fact that it’s made out of paper means it really won’t and didn’t last very long. It’s great for a little bit of imaginative play around the house. Here’s what you need to make a paper bag princess costume of your own.
Item’s you need:
- Foam crown
- Spray paint
- Glue Gun
- Paper or Paper bag
For our dress we used the sheet of paper above. I just trimmed it in length and used the trimmings to create sleeves to hold up the dress. If you can find or have a paper bag that’s even better, this paper was thing making the outfit a one time wear. She tore it right in the middle as she was dancing around in the yard and it was becoming more and more risqué during our photoshoot, haha. As we knew this was just for play and wasn’t going to last long I simply taped the dress together around her. I used the can of spray paint to paint our foam crowns a nice gold. I used two foam crowns and glued them together in circle form to give our crown some depth and then glued it to the headband. While the dress was short lived we had fun with it and will definitely be making more in the future 🙂
