{DIY} Marbled Mugs
About a month ago or so one of my favourite local bloggers, North Shore Mama, shared a video link from BuzzFeed DIY (seen here) on how to make these pretty marbled looking mugs. It was super simple looking, the video is less than a minute, and I was instantly drawn to it. The next night while wondering around Superstore (with out kids, so it’s like a vacation right?) I came across some mugs that were priced at $1.25 and instantly scooped up 4 so that I could try out the DIY. I picked up a $4 jar of Joe Fresh polish, making the total for the project come in just under $10 (I think the mugs ended up being 20% off!)
As pictured above the supplies you need for this project are very minimal.
Mugs
nail polish
a deep tupperware container filled with warm water
clear acrylic sealant spray (not pictured)
From there you simply drizzle your nail polish over the water, blow on it to disperse it a bit, then dip your mug in the water. As you dip your mug in, twist it slowly and the nail polish will cling to it. For best results its recommend you work quickly. I highly recommend not letting your toddler help you with this project as there is a good chance they will just dump the whole bottle of nail polish into the water! Take a peek at the video (link above) for a fabulous tutorial and happy crafting everyone!

I’ve made these too!! They were a hit for holiday teacher gifts 🙂
Omg these mugs came out so cute!!! Loving that you used nail polish to make them!!!! Lol…
Cool idea! This reminds me of something we used to do in high school, except it was on paper. Beautiful!
I wonder what it would look like with two colours
These are so fun! I have 3 white mugs that I was debating whether or not to get rid of (doing a bit of a kitchen purge! 🙂 but now I think I will try this out on them!
That is such a great project! I happen to have a lot of nail polish colors too. I can’t wait to try this. I am off to pin this now!
Oh my gosh, those are SO COOOL. I want to try this project ASAP!
Doing this tonight! Thank you!
