Everett {One Month}

Cue the water works now! I really can’t believe how quickly time is flying by. I mean it feels like just yesterday I was impatiently awaiting the arrival of our little guy and now here he is one month old already!!! Before I know it he’s going to be walking and talking just like his sister and she NEVER stops. Well I know I have yet to “formally” introduce our little guy on the blog yet, but here he is:

This is our little Everett John Alastair Milliard. After much anticipation he joined us on September 8th, 2015. While his birth was much different from his sisters was, it was just as smooth as my pregnancy. I will spare you of any of the gory details for now (I kid, there’s no gory details) I am debating on sharing his birth story. Who know’s I might go back in time and share Hazel’s too, the world really needs more positive birth story’s, there are so many out there that they act as birth control!

Everett has been a little dream since he arrived, eating lots, sleeping lots and of course pooping lots. He has been a rather easy baby so far (as was his sister). As we approached the one month mark we have slowly started coming out of the newborn phase. He has been much more alert now, staying awake for a few hours at a time throughout the day. He has yet to really keep me up at night, just a quick snack here and there and we are back to sleep (knock on wood). We seem to be consistently doing four hour stretches, so I am up once in the middle of the night and then again really early. Now if only he and his sister would sink their morning snack and morning wake up so I am not up at 5am only to be up again at 6am!

We have been slowly gaining weight. We had to go back to the doctors the second week for an extra check up to make sure we were gaining. We lost a decent amount upon going home from the hospital and didn’t put much on that first week. Since the second week we have been growing like a weed and haven’t had any issues nursing. We are still fitting into our newborn clothing and diaper. I am sooo glad I picked up newborn clothes before hand this time. I just new we were having a smaller baby. That being said we are smaller than our sister was at this point, it seems weird to have such a tiny baby!

We have started to focus on people and objects around the room. His favourite thing to stare at (aside from me of course, hehe) is our gallery wall in the living room. The large black shapes of the frames seem to be very easy for him to focus on and keep him very entertained.

This past week we received a few little smiles. Not the gassy kind, real smiles! I think my heart melted the first time he smiled at me. Even though you’ve done this once before, you forget how exciting all the firsts are and I find they are just as exciting the second time around. We’ve also started to coo this week and I think it’s the cutest thing I’ve ever heard. I don’t really remember Hazel cooing all that much or maybe this early. But when E coos and smiles at me it really doesn’t get much better than that 🙂

    I would actually really like to hear your birth stories! The reason I haven’t had any children yet is because I constantly hear horror stories that scare me off!

      Is that the only thing holding you back? Get on it you guys, in my opinion labour is easier than dealing with a two year old, haha!
