Just over a week ago now we planted our very first garden. While we live in a townhouse, we do thankfully have a very modest sized backyard. The area of our garden we used for our garden used to house some fairly infested rhododendrons. So last summer we hauled them out and boxed in the area to create a little garden. As it was to late to plant anything last year, we have been eagerly anticipating the day we could plant our little garden this year.
What have we planted you ask? We have cucumbers, lettuce, carrots, zucchini, peas, green beans, yellow beans and a mix of grape and cherry tomatoes. Over the last 10 days we have been eagerly checking our garden daily to see what is sprouting up. First it was the lettuce, which Hazel helped me plant, so we might have sprinkled those seeds rather aggressively. Now to our delight everything has a sprout or two! So now we will sit back and watch them grow. I normally have a rather black thumb when it comes to keeping plants alive (not sure how the kids are surviving) so we have made sure we are diligent about watering these babies! Next up I am hoping to plant a patio herb garden to fill with mint, basil, rosemary and the list goes on. Im on the hunt for the perfect planter so if you know of any send them my way. And if you have any tips or suggestions to help us grow our garden, please send them this way. And we might just be willing to share the fruits of our labour with you later this summer!
