Hazels Big Girl Room {Giveaway}
I am so excited to share Hazels big girl room with you. And more importantly she absolutely loves it which makes all the time we put into it so worth it. I have been dreaming up Hazels room since before we became pregnant with Everett. We had even picked out paint as early as the first month of my pregnancy in hopes to have the room finished before baby #2 arrived. Little did we know buying the paint that early would mean it would sit in the garage for months on end, haha. It wasn’t until July as we were creeping up on the last 2 months that I was like we HAVE to get this room completed. Now I know weren’t going to be putting the baby in the nursery right away, but what I did want to avoid was Hazel feeling that she was being kicked out of her room because of the baby. I felt that if we had her moved over before the baby arrived and had her excited about a new room we would avoid melt downs and the dreaded sleep regression. And it seemed to work. We had the room completed end of July (except the heart decals) and moved her in right away. Since I had been sourcing out items for the room for a few months, as soon as the room was painted there was a quick trip to Ikea and then moved her into it the next night. Now when I say a quick trip to Ikea I mean a very pregnant Andria (34 weeks to be exact) going to Ikea SOLO. Here I was very pregnant and loading and unloading the cart and my car, dragging boxes upstairs and then building all of the bedroom furniture. Call me crazy but with Evans work schedule the furniture wasn’t going to build itself and I wanted it done ASAP. The hardest part was trying to get the dowel back from Murray after he ran off with it! Damn cat!
I spent hours searching images on the internet and pinning on Pinterest. I originally wanted to go with a cat theme and this cute quilt set I saw at Pottery Barn but when I went back for it, it was sold out 🙁 total #momfail. There were two things I wanted to capture in this room, I wanted to reflect her fun little personality and I wanted to include her love for books, so I knew a little reading nook was a must. You can visit my Pinterest Board to see our inspiration for the whole room and the reading nook. When I spotted You Are So Loved print from Paperfelt on Instagram I knew instantly I had to include it in the room, from there the room just started to unfold. I knew what colours I wanted, what prints I wanted and what bedding I wanted. (PS you might just be able to win this print at the end of this post)
Her bed and dresser are from Ikea, they are from the Hemnes series. If you are looking to build anything Ikea anytime soon just call me, I can pretty much do it with my eyes closed these days! Her bedding is Oh Joy for Land of Nod and not only do they still sell it but it’s on clearance so it’s a really good deal if you want to pick up a set!
The shelf above her bed is from Ikea, Evan spray painted the anchors gold as they were just unfinished wood. Her name banner that is hung underneath is from Little Dovie, it was one of my first purchase for her room. The shelf contains the very first stuffy given to me (her) when I first found out I was pregnant, her “life” in Chatbooks, her first pair of Minimocs , floral crown from her first birthday and of course her Mushybook! These items are all items I want to preserve for as long as I can for her so they are all out of reach 😉
The gallery wall above her book / toy shelf contains some of my favourite prints. The Paperfelt print which the room is based around. Three shimmer heart prints from Kardz Kouture, as well as the A girl should be two things print. The letter H was in her nursery, I painted it to match her new room. The heart shelf is from Bouclair Home, it was originally white, we painted it the mint colour. The heart light is from Target. I picked it up last Christmas, it was the very first thing I purchased for her room and I took the time removing each light so I could spray paint it and put it back together.
The mirror above her dresser and the rose ceramic dish are also from Bouclair Homes. They were just the perfect girly features to add to her room. The mirrored jewelry box was a HomeSense find a few years ago. The lamp and vase with flowers are both from Ikea. According to Hazel the flowers smell good, haha!
The reading nook is probably one of my favourite things about her room, probably because she loves it so much! The tent and rugs are from Ikea. The toss cushions are a mix from Ikea and Chapters. I can often find her sitting and playing or reading in her little nook while I am getting ready in the mornings. I have even found her soundly asleep amongst the pillows when she refused to nap one day!
The very last thing to go up in her room was the mini heart decals from Urban Walls. To match the theme of the room I ordered them in pink, gold and mint. I was worried they were going to be extremely time consuming and tedious to put up. Surprisingly enough they were fairly easy and quick to put up. Now I didn’t do the hard labour, Evan did, but it really didn’t take him long to put them up and they look amazing! Just ask Hazel as every night as she falls asleep she likes to put out her hearts on the wall and tell you that daddy put them there. She also says she loves them and that they are her favourite.
One of the best things about putting together her room was using some of my favourite local and not so local shops, such as Kardz Kouture, Urban Walls and Paperfelt. These three small businesses have very generously partnered up with me to bring you guys a giveaway to celebrate Hazels new room! Gorgeous room! Love that it’s girly without being an explosion of pink. Those heart decals are adorable.
You now have me torn about putting hearts all over my oldest rooms, or letting them take over my newborns room.
I’d give it to my niece for her bedroom 🙂
We purchased a new home when my daughter was 1 month, she is now 7 months and I have yet to fully decorate lol. I would put her heart decals on an accent wall with her new born pics and her M sign.
This is beyond adorable, if I have a girl one day I will definitely be coming back to this post for inspiration! In the meantime I might just get a couple of things for my niece’s room for Christmas! Beautiful job! And I can totally relate to the super pregnant and dragging ikea boxes around, ha!
Love all the little details and how you describe the room coming together. She is so blessed to have you as her mommas – love what she says about the heart decals. Thanks for sharing
You did a fabulous Job Andria! Hazel is so lucky to have a good mama like you! We just moved Zoe into her own room and are decorating as well. Thanks for the inspiration!
oh and I’d put them surrounding her crib on the far wall so she remembers she is always surrounded by love!
Definitely on my daughter’s bedroom wall by her bed!
I’d add them to Ari’s room. 🙂
It’s absolutely darling Andria!! B is just about 1.5 now and we have started buying things for her big girl room (which won’t happen till at least 2) but the gold would go perfect 🙂
I LOVE this room!! It turned out wonderfully! I am jealous…I want a room like that for myself!!
Wow I love the colours! You did a great job. I’m pinning a few pictures to my Pinterest collection!
I really like the reading nook too!
Love the room and all of the little details. They all tie together so beautifully! We bought the black cross decals from urban walls for baby M’s nursery and absolutely love them! The gold heart decals and heart prints would be amazing in our guest room. Thanks for sharing and for the design inspiraton!
I absolutely adore this bedroom. I’m expecting my first in the spring, and I’ve been looking at urban wall decals even before I got pregnant for nurse decals. I would put the hearts in the nursery if we had a girl or in the guest room. I’ll be heading over to your Pinterest for design inspiration! Thanks for sharing 🙂
So cute! I would put everything in my 3 year old daughter’s room as we are planning on moving her to a big girl bed very soon!
We just moved our 2 yr old to a big girl bed this past month before her little brother arrives. I would add to her existing wall gallery!

I would put them on the walls in my daughters room.
I’d either put them up in my daughter’s room, or when I do up the nursery for my Squish that is due in June (gender depending!)

Great Job Andria! LOVE the hearts and color scheme! Eep! Can’t wait to do Grace’s room!!!
So cute! Can’t wait to do Alices big girl room in the spring. Love the pillow corner!! Those heart wall decals are friggin adorable.
You know, I’d probably decorate the wall space underneath the bunkbeds. Since it is boy/girl siblings that are sharing a room right now, we have left it very kid neutral. I’m sure she’d love to spice up her ‘area’ of the bunk bed!
Great looking room!
Im currently working on my twins nursery, and I would love to put the heart decals in their room
