Holy smokes I can’t believe that it’s almost been three whole months since I last blogged / updated the site. I have to apologize for leaving you guys in the dark for so long. It really wasn’t my intention to take such a long hiatus and leave you high and dry. So let me up date you on whats been going on over here.
As the days in June started flying things started to get a bit crazy around here and something had to give. Unfortunately the blog was the first thing on the list to be pushed aside, followed by our bedroom refresh and my refinishing project that’s taking up our garage, oops.
One of the reasons, okay probably the main reason, things started to get a bit crazy was my husbands work schedule. His job is mainly based outdoors so once the weather gets nice they tend to work longer days and sometimes weekends. With him out of the house from around 5am and not returning until 9pm or sometimes later it meant that the majority of the time it was a one woman show around the house. After slaving away the day to the little monsters that call me mom, I totally kid, but you know what I mean. 6am mornings, breakfast, snacks, lunch, snacks, dinner, more snacks, bath times, bedtimes, playtimes, laundry etc etc. It can be a LONG day, so when 9pm rolls around the last thing I really wanted to do was pull out my laptop and work. All I wanted to do was crawl into my bed, turn my diffuser on and just chill.
This leads me to reason number two, it was starting to feel like work. Don’t get me wrong, nothing comes for free but the blog wasn’t meant to be work. It was started as a place to share things I loved and we did as a family. It was meant to be a bit of a passion project, something to take my mind away from the daily stress. Unfortunately it was starting to lose that passion and it was starting to become stressful. It just wasn’t fun anymore. There were deadlines, rejection, competition and other things that just weren’t making it what it used to be. So as much as the hiatus over the last three months was impromptu it was needed, very much so.
So as it would be I only dusted off my laptop a handful of times this summer, mostly for online shopping or to play a movie on the projector. Otherwise it sat upstairs, out of sight, out of mind and that was perfectly ok with me. Now this certainly doesn’t mean this is a farewell post. I have lots to share with you guys, maybe fill you in a bit about what we got up to this summer, share Hazel’s fourth birthday with you, and a few exciting opportunities we have coming our way and had before my blog hiatus. What it does mean is I am going to be even more picky with what I share and how I spend my time going forward. If it’s going to be taking time away from my family it will only be something I believe in 100%, something I already do but will be putting even more thought into going forward. And there might be more photo heavy posts, think Wordless Wednesdays, because being behind the camera is a happy place for me.
So now that you’ve read that rambling essay, I thank you for sticking with me during this quiet time and I can’t wait to get back to our regular programming and share some new exciting things with you!
