Since Hazel started preschool earlier this month she has been all about counting. She counts anything and everything and has even started negotiating at meal times.
“Mommy, I will eat 2 pieces and then I can have a cookie right?”
The girl drives a hard bargain and I have to give her credit for trying. It’s also nice to see her putting her newly learnt skills to work. Especially since for the longest time she would skip the number 5. I don’t know why but whenever she would count she would go 1,2,3,4,6, all the time. We seemed to have found the number 5 now, so now is the time to move on to the higher digits.
They have been busy counting bears at preschool (its bear month) so I thought it would be fun to do something in theme with next months holiday. (Hmm Valentines Day isn’t even a holiday but it’s so big you would think it was!) Anyways I thought we would have some fun counting hearts, so I put together a little printable that we can use to practise counting to 10. Of course I couldn’t just say I created a printable for Hazel and I to use and leave it at that, so of course I am going to share it with you too!
As a special treat I stopped by the store and picked up some Valentines day conversation hearts to use with our sheet, but you can you anything you want to. Whether its other pieces of candy (smarties are great too), goldfish, cheerios, food is always motivating! You could also cut out mini hearts (or other shapes), draw shapes or even use bingo dabbers. The options how you count on your Let Me Count the Ways printable are endless and the best part is you can print as many as you like!
Don’t forget to PIN it for later, so you can print it again!
If you download the printable be sure to share with me the creative way you and your kids use yours!
