Mom on the go, Keeping Fuelled Throughout the Day
As a mom of two I know how hard it is to find time to do anything during the day, including eating. While I always make sure I am eating my three main meals, I sometimes find it hard to stay fueled in between and at times find myself reaching for a snack that’s not so healthy, (hello heartshaped chocolate cake currently sitting on my counter, I’m looking at you!)
I spend a lot of my day holed up on the couch, bed or even floor nursing and playing. So when it comes to snacks I need something that is quick to prepare and easy to cart with me through out the house. I’ve recently started including some fresh cold pressed juices from Sexy Juice into my diet, to keep fuelled throughout the day. If you had suggested including fresh cold pressed juices into my diet a few months ago I would have laughed at you. I used to think that drinking fresh cold pressed juices meant you had to do a juice cleanse and that is something I just can’t do. After chatting with Summer, owner of Sexy Juice, it quickly became apparent that they have one goal in mind and that is having a healthy body. At Sexy Juice they understand that a juice cleanse isn’t for everyone for a number of reasons.
- If you don’t eat a diet of mostly whole foods (non processed) on a regular basis it could be a huge shock to your system.
- They can be expensive (hello maternity leave budget)
- Pregnant and nursing mom require extra calories so relying solely on a cleanse isn’t recommended
What they do recommend is a lifestyle that is full of whole foods, while including nutrient dense cold pressed juices along the way. It can be something as simple as starting your day off with a green juice like Good Morning Sunshine and a handful of nuts. This anti inflammatory green juice is packed with proteins and helps improve the absorption of nutrients, a great way to start the day I think. Instead of reaching for an afternoon coffee or soda, sip on a juice like The Energizer which contains pineapple, coconut, chia seeds and apples. It tastes delicious and will not only fix your sugar craving it aids in digestion and helps regulate blood sugar levels (no 3pm crash here).
I have only tried the above two juices and so far I am loving what I am trying. The flavour profiles are delicious and have so far helped to curb any sweet cravings, especially after having The Energizer. And to think that by having one of these juices I am getting roughly 1-3 pounds of fruits and vegetables into my body. Over the next little bit I will be trying more juices from Sexy Juice and sharing my experiences with you guys along the way. I will be sharing some smoothy recipes and other healthy snack ideas, as well as a question and answer post about cold pressed juices. So if there’s anything you want to know, send me an email or leave me a comment. Be sure to follow along on Snapchat {@mrsmilliard} as I will be sharing more about the juices on there as I try them.

Ps: The Energizer is really that yummy, it has me dreaming of a Maui vacation and singing “If you like Piña Coladas, getting caught in the rain….”

The Energizer sounds really good! I love tropical flavors.
It is so yummy!!
Sounds yummy! I may look into this as an addition to the snacks I consume while breastfeeding
So far I’ve been enjoying them and they’ve helped keep me going through out the day!
I really love this post because I can relate to it 100% as I have two little ones 21months apart and feeding myself isn’t always #1 on my mind. I’m curious where the sexy juice retails and if you happen to know how much it sells for. Thanks!!!
Hi Angela, they are based out of the Vancouver / Fraser Valley. If you are in the area they do deliver to certain areas but orders can be picked up in Vancouver or Abbotsford. The juices are $9 each, hope that helps!
Thanks for sharing this. I DEFINITELY need more energy. It’s so hard when you cut back on caffeine. This might help, though!
I never thought of bringing juice with me when I am running around. That’s a great idea. The Energizer sounds delicious!
