San Fran or Bust Part 2

After enjoying two nights and one full day in Sonoma we had a good breakfast and hit the road again. It’s only about an hour and half from Sonoma to San Fransisco so we knew we didn’t have a lot of driving a head of us which was nice. As we approached we saw the Golden Gate bridge and naturally we did the touristy thing and pulled off to the look out for some pictures. It was extremely windy at the lookout, as you can tell by my hair blowing in three different directions!

After our quick stop at the bridge we headed for our hotel. We were staying at the top of Nob Hill which meant we were right on the cable car lines and just  a short trip to Union Square or Fisherman’s Wharf, depending on which direction we went. After getting settled into our room we decided we would hope on the cable cars and head down to the Wharf to check out the sites. Now I had been to San Fransisco before so I vaguely remembered where we wanted to go. Our plan was to take the cable car to the bottom but when I heard the driver call out Lombard street I said to Ev that we should get off here and walk down Lombard and then walk the remainder of the way. Now I know what your thinking, what did we do with Hazel if we took the cable cars? Ergo! The only way to see San Fransisco when your 9 weeks old, is to see it by Ergo!

Once we made it to the Wharf we stopped for lunch and had one of my favorite things to eat in California, Clam Chowder in a bread bowl! I don’t know what it is, but they make it so good! We ventured around for a couple of hours with our little side kick all snug as a bug before catching the cable cars back up to the hotel and enjoying a nice dinner in the hotels restaurant. The next morning we decided to go do some shopping, so we headed down to Union Square. As we were going to shop we decided to bring the stroller so we didn’t have to carry anything we purchased. Now this meant a couple of things. We could not use the cable cars to get up or down the hill, we had to walk. Now if you’ve been to San Fransisco before you know what its like, they have got some biiiiig hills and what goes down must come back up at the end of the day. Hello legs 🙂 Because we were currently using our car seat attachment with the stroller it did mean we could take a cab if we wanted, which was nice to know if we were too tired to walk back up to the hotel. We spent the entire day wandering Union Square before making the trek back up the hill.

When we were down in Union Square we noticed a lot of people wearing Giants gear, so when we got back up to the hotel we checked and sure enough there was a game on. So we packed up, threw Hazel into the Ergo and off we went. We took the cable car back down the hill to Union Square and from there we walked to AT&T park for Hazel’s first Major League Baseball game. That’s right Hazel was at AT&T park before it was the cool place to propose, thanks Kimye!

The next morning we packed up and started our journey home. Before we left California we made one stop, a request from the husband for our very first ever In n Out burger. Totally worth it, probably the best fast food I’ve ever had! From there we took the coast hwy through the Redwoods to Coos Bay where we spent the night. The next day we met up with some friends for a quick visit on the coast and then we were on our way to Seattle to spend our last night of our vacation and celebrate our wedding anniversary 🙂

Thanks for following along on our crazy road trip with 9 week old Hazel, can’t wait to share another adventure with you.

Xo. Andria
