Telus Baby Health App; Staying on Track

There’s no denying it when you have kids, whether its one, two or five, keeping track of everything little thing can be hard! From regular check ups, to immunizations, any specialist appointments and just every day events ones family calendar can be overwhelming. Quite often we find ourselves saying we have a handle on keeping things organized because there’s app for that, but not all apps are tailored the way the Telus Baby Health App is.

One of my favourite things about taking the kids in for regular check ups during that first year (ok probably the only thing I enjoy about it) was seeing how much they had grown since the last time. And then as we’ve added two more kids it’s been neat to see how all three of them are growing compared to the others. Incase you are wondering, Ryerson is taking the lead on this one, out of all three ;). Each time we go to the doctors I take note of their height, weight, head circumference and when we leave a plug it all into my app on my phone. It’s been a great way to monitor the kids weights, making sure they are growing accordingly and in Everett’s case we found him slipping off the growth chart so we knew we needed start beefing up his feedings.

However one thing really bothered me about all the available apps though and that was that they were all based on American growth charts. Not really the end of the world but it  didn’t provide me with accurate information and my growth charts weren’t lining up to my doctors. Thankfully this year TELUS launched their TELUS Baby Health App just before Ryerson was born (read his birth story here).  Now because TELUS is a Canadian company, it means all the information in the app is based off of Canadian stats. I absolutely love this because when I plug in Ryersons stats the growth charts are accurate and I am able to match them to what my doctor has on file. While I don’t think we will have to worry about him slipping of the charts like his brother, it still provides peace of mind knowing his growth is steady and following a specific line on the growth chart.

Not only am I able to keep track of his growth with the TELUS Baby Health App but I can also keep track of emergency contacts, any medications he may need, allergies should he develop any and when he has his immunizations. Because I always have my phone at my finger tips, it means that I don’t have to worry about trying to find, or carry around his health passport when we head for appointments. Three kids means carrying around a lot of extra stuff and if I can eliminate some and still remain organized you better believe I am going to do it.

The TELUS Baby Health App is free to download and available to both Apple and Andriod users via the App store and Google Play. As a bonus to celebrate the launch of their new app TELUS has partnered with The Baby Box Company. If you are a new or expecting parent you can register for your free Telus Baby Box here.
