Another Halloween has come and gone and as usual, even faster than the last. We had been looking forward to this years Halloween for a little while as the kids are entering that prime age for trick or treating.
We had hummed and hawed over doing family costumes again and even had planned our costumes out a few months ago, but just couldn’t decided if we wanted to do it. I then thought you know what the kids aren’t going to want to do this with us forever, Hazel loves it, so we might as well roll with it while we can. I ordered our costumes with plenty of time and guaranteed shipping but boy was I sweating it. Hazels costume got bumped back by two days for some weird shipping reason. I don’t think I have ever checked a tracking number so much in my life. I even went out and grabbed her a back up costume the day before just in case. As things would have it, it did arrive, the afternoon of, across the border. All that matters is that we got it, she was beyond happy and we had so much fun!
When it came to trick or treating Hazel definitely had the idea down pat and was running from house to house this year. I don’t want to mention how many times my nagging mom voice came out to remind her that she had to wait for her brother, (enter eye rolls). Everett on the other hand took a little convincing to get into his costume but once we were out and he got that first treat it was game on. He was quickly saying treat at all the doors, followed by thank you and then goooooo as he ran to the next house.
We went until their little legs could no longer carry them any more and then we went home and trick or treated on our street and boy did the kids clean up! We were surprised at how many of our neighbours were giving out candy as our street is quite the hike to get up to and truth be told they didn’t have a lot of kids coming up to see them, one of the reasons we weren’t to worried about handing out candy. By this point of the night our little Yoshi was starting to get sneaky and was helping himself to bowls of candy when people were and weren’t looking. It’s safe to say his loot bag was a little heavier than Hazels!!
So much for Wordless Wednesday, but here are our costumes for this year. Now to think of fun for something next year for a family of five!!!
Ps. Incase you are wondering, Hazel has no idea who Princess Peach is or what she’s from. All she knows is that she was a Princess and that Everett was Yoshi, a dragon. She would proudly tell people who she was but actually has no clue who she really is.
